SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – The South Plainfield Junior Baseball Club (SPJBC) will be hosting its first ever Cal Ripken Middle Atlantic Regional Tournament beginning this Thursday July 19. Teams from New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania will be staying in town over the weekend as some of the best 10 year-old baseball players in the Middle Atlantic States compete to advance to the Cal Ripken World Series.

"As the commissioner of the SPJBC it has always been my dream to host a Regional Tournament," said SPJBC Commissioner Joe Scrudato. "The SPJBC's complex is one of the very best in New Jersey, and it will be great to showcase our baseball club to the surrounding states coming to the tournament."

Opening day festivities are scheduled to begin 9:00am Thursday on Field #2 with Past SPJBC Commissioner Owen Kelly throwing out the celebratory first pitch.
