PISCATAWAY, NJ – The old Cornel Farm house, also known as the Halper Farm House located on Metlars Lane in Piscataway, was the scene of a two-alarm fire Wednesday night. Smoke could be seen for miles rising as the sun was beginning to set to the west.

Fire companies from throughout the area were on scene to bring the fire under control.

The South Plainfield Volunteer Fire Department received a mutual aid call at approximately 7:30 p.m. and dispatched Engine #4 to the scene. “Engine #4 was dispatched,” said South Plainfield Fire Chief Tom Scalera. “The truck was sent with four men and an officer. They helped in relaying water due to the 2,000 feet of hose that was required in order to put the fire out.”

Piscataway’s North Stelton Volunteer Fire Company was at the scene and thanked all those units that assisted them with the long supply relays. The old Cornel Farm House was unoccupied, and there were no reports of any injuries.
