South Plainfield's 5th Annual Christmas in July Coming to the Downtown


SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ -  South Plainfield’s 5th Annual Christmas in July will be held on Saturday, July 29th there will be over 65 vendors up and down South Plainfield Avenue from Front Street to Old Hamilton Blvd from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This year’s event is hosted by the Borough of South Plainfield, the South Plainfield Business Association (SPBA), the South Plainfield Business Advisory Group (BAG) and Scarlett Ryan Consulting.

 Christmas in July will begin at 10 a.m., the South Plainfield Marching Band, led by Santa, will parade down South Plainfield Avenue to Front Street to kick off the festivities.

 There will also be a Tricky Tray sponsored by the South Plainfield Band Boosters and performances by South Plainfield’s Summer Drama Workshop, The SPHS Color Guards and the South Plainfield Marching Band.  There will be a lot of activities for the children including a new addition this year, a portable Race Car track where kids (and adults) can race a remote control car around the track.

 The Window Decorating Contest is also back this year by popular demand. Anyone interested in decorating the windows in the downtown should email their name and artwork theme to as soon as possible. South Plainfield Cultural Arts Commission will supply paint and brushes to decorate the windows.

 Swag bags will be given away to the first 150 adults and 100 children - stop by the South Plainfield Business Association booth for your bag while they last. Magic 98.3 will be back for the entire day this year

“The Mayor and council have graciously agreed to a pie throwing contest,” said Jill Ryan, event organizer. “Stop by for your chance to throw a whip cream pie in the faces of the mayor and council.”

 What would Christmas be without artificial Christmas trees, stop by Puleo International's booth for some hot deals on Pre-Lit Christmas Trees, no need to worry about carrying your tree home, you can stop by their South Plainfield warehouse during the week of July 31 and pickup your tree.  Prices will only be good the day of the event and must be paid for during the event.  They will have some other items for sale as well.

 New this year is our ugly T-Shirt contest - we will have 2 age groups.  Children up to age 12 will be one group and age 13 through Adult will be the second group.  Winners will receive a gift card.  

 Shirley Thompson's Christmas will be holding a bake sale to raise funds for this year's Christmas - stop by for some delicious baked goods.  Donations of cookies, donuts, cakes will also be accepted, please drop off at 10am.

 The South Plainfield High School Color Guard will be doing face painting to help raise money for the upcoming school year.

 There will be a wide range of vendors this year, selling jewelry, candles, clothing, handmade items, beauty products, health products, food and much more.  For a complete list of vendors, please see South Plainfield Christmas in July Facebook page.
