SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – Students of Cresthaven Academy Charter School will start the new year off with much-needed supplies thanks to a generous monetary donation received last month from the South Plainfield-based Impact Church.

On Aug. 19, Pastor De’Andre Salter met with Cresthaven Academy students and the school’s executive director Daniel Croson to present a check for $990. “We hope this money will go a long way to helping them in the fall,” said Salter, who also took to social media in support of Cresthaven, sharing a video about the school and the donation on the church's Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/Church4Impact/videos/1577509445634051/).

Cresthaven Academy is a free, open-enrollment K-8 public school that gives another education option to Plainfield families. The school, said Croson, is 'built on the belief that all children, regardless of race or economic status, can succeed when given equal access to a high-quality education.' “Many of our families cannot afford to send their child to school with the necessary supplies. Impact's donation helped ensure that every scholar has the tools to succeed this school year, said Croson.

Each year, said Salter, the church designates 10-percent of its annual budget for missions work. “Our missions are not just international; we have a heavy focus on local and domestic missions…and there are local organizations that are really doing great work and we want to partner with them to improve our communities,” Salter said. “For us, it’s just about partnering with the organizations in our community that make the community a better place overall. Cresthaven is one of those organizations.”

In addition to this most recent monetary donation, Impact Church has partnered with Cresthaven in the past. According to Croson, the church first reached out last summer. “[They] heard about a new school opening up that fall and wanted to help [and] offered to run a school supply drive on our behalf at their congregation. Within weeks, they were at our door with hundreds of glue sticks, pencils, index cards, and Play Dough jars,” said Croson. “Since then, Impact has been a faithful partner, always there to help with whatever we needed, including donating hundreds of holiday presents so that each one of our scholars went home for winter break with gifts to unwrap."

Croson added, "We are beyond grateful for Impact Church's donation and continued partnership. Their belief in our school and in the potential of each scholar we serve is truly humbling. 'Thank you' will never be enough.”
