South Plainfield’s Lanasia Neal Wins NJSIAA Girls Bowling Individual Title

NORTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. – On Wednesday, South Plainfield’s own Lanasia Neal won the NJSIAA girls bowling individual title at Carolier Lanes in North Brunswick.

After earning the No. 1 seed in the stepladder finals format, bowling games of 219, 257, 279, 222, 223, and 267 for a 1467 total qualifying her as the number one seed for the stepladder finals, she topped Tori Boughton of Brick Memorial 217-211 in the 2016 finals.

"Earning the No. 1 seed gave me some confidence, but I was still really nervous heading into the final match," Neal said. "I knew I was going to go up against Tori and she is a great bowler and it feels really great to be able to win this tournament. This tournament is a process and I think of it just one frame at a time. If I get a bad frame I just try to shake it off and move on to the next one."
