SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – The South Plainfield Mayor’s Wellness Committee is looking for students in seventh through 12th grade to design and submit a creative, original logo to promote its “Caught on a Walk” campaign. All submissions may be used for promotional materials and the first and second place winners will receive bragging rights and a $100 Visa gift card.

“This is a great opportunity for our young residents to showcase their artistic talents while also promoting the borough and increasing awareness of our popular ‘Caught on a Walk’ campaign,” said South Plainfield Mayor Matt Anesh.

Logo submissions must be based on the ‘Caught on a Walk’ theme which is designed to promote a healthy lifestyle and a healthy sense of a community by better connecting borough residents with friends and neighbors. Through the campaign, established in 2013, Wellness Committee members attempt to catch walkers at different times of the day and in different locations throughout South Plainfield. Those ‘caught on a walk’ are then interviewed, photographed, and featured in both TAPinto South Plainfield and the South Plainfield Observer.

For the ‘Caught on a Walk’ Logo Contest, students’ entries must be eye catching yet legible and not exceed 8”x10.” Only hardcopy logos will accepted. Logos must not contain copyrighted material or art with images (whether licensed or not) previously published. Additionally, all logos must be created and edited by the person(s) submitting them.

‘Caught on a Walk’ Logo Contest entries will be accepted through May 5 with winners selected by the Mayor’s Wellness Committee. The winning students and their respective logos will be announced at a borough council meeting and posted on the Borough of South Plainfield website and Facebook page.

“By designing a creative new logo to help us promote the committee’s ‘Caught on a Walk’ campaign, our young residents will have the opportunity to showcase both their artistic abilities and their love for their community,” said Mayor Anesh.

Please note: those entering the contest grant the Mayor’s Wellness Committee the right to feature their logos on the borough’s website and other social media platforms, including Facebook, as well as on stationary, pamphlets, T-shirts, etc. Additionally, contestants agree that the committee may publish their logo and name(s) and may use both for future promotional materials. Contestants also assign all ownership rights, including all intellectual property rights to the logo, to the Committee, which may modify or revise the logo as it sees necessary to achieve its goals.

The Mayor’s Wellness Committee includes Mayor Anesh along with Debbie Boyle (chair) and members Stephanie Bartfalvi, Scott Carey, Dawn Giakas, Alison Gibson, David Jaipersaud, Tree Olano, Gary Prendergast, Mary Piekarski, and Joe Scrudato.

Information on the contest, including an entry form, is available online at www.southplainfieldnj.com and from the art teachers at both South Plainfield Middle and High Schools. For additional information, contact Debbie Boyle at (908) 803.1573.
