SPARC & Potential New Amateur Radio Operators

The South Plainfield Amateur Radio Club (SPARC) participated in the “2018, NJ Makers Day” held on March 10, 2018; at the Piscataway JFK Public Library located at 500 Hoes Lane.

Twenty enthusiastic young adults were provided a Morse Code Oscillator Kit to be constructed at the event under the guidance of SPARC members. Each participant was accompanied by an adult.

The day long event afforded the young adults the opportunity to learn about soldering, component recognition, assembly of components, and testing of the kit upon competition. A good time was had by all

The intent of SPARC’s participation was to stimulate the young adults’ imaginations to the opportunities of amateur radio. The SPARC leadership for this event was provided by Harry Chiovarou, KC2PGX and Drew Moore, W2OU.

This event was made possible by the generosity of The Boyle Memorial Foundation, and Thakur Foods, LLC.

SPARC would like to acknowledge Ms. Kathleen DiGiulio of Piscataway Public Library, for her guidance and encouragement.  In addition, SPARC wishes to thank South Plainfield’s Councilman Derryck C. White for his ongoing support of SPARC projects.

Carly Kensey Graduates from ECU
