EDISON, NJ - After completing a solid regular season, posting a 9-3 record, the South Plainfield Tigers earned the honors to host the opening round of GMC play at Plainfield West Nine. The Dual match featured conference foe Woodbridge and Middlesex High.
Before taking the greens in the GMC’s the Tigers ended their regular season last Monday, the same way it started, with a tough loss to rival Colonia. However, this resilient Tigers team bounced back quickly, taking advantage of the nice weather, working hard Tuesday and Wednesday in preparation of the start of GMC’s. The positive attitude, hard work and team spirit has made this an enjoyable and competitive season in 2017.
Senior Andrew Kensey led the way Thursday, shooting even par (33) and Junior Brandon Wizda chipped in a four over par (37), both personal low scores for the season. Senior Chris Jefferys (41) and Sophomore Alex Amato (44) rounded out the scoring as the Tigers took the top four spots on the match card vs. Woodbridge. Middlesex was beaten by 30 strokes.
The Boys now advance to the second round of GMC’s and will face a tough Wardlaw-Hartridge team Monday at Ashbrook in Scotch Plains. On Tuesday the Tigers head for their State Round at Running Deer Golf Club in Pittsgrove.
