With the score knotted up at 2-2, the 3rd singles match proved to be the deciding factor on the cold and windy afternoon. Tigers senior Danny Trieu (1-1) aced his serve to win the game, set and overall match 6-4, 7-5. The senior captain’s two-hour battle won it for South Plainfield.

South Plainfield’s other two wins came in dominant fashion. The Tigers took both doubles matches as Michael Tran and Charles A. Lovett shut out Vilton Mellijor and Hersh Thapar 6-0, 6-0, and Jason Belanger and Scott Riccardi defeated Dominic De Chavez and Sebastien Jean-Pierre 6-1, 6-0.

The Falcons took the first two single matches however as Jack Kosiorowski topped Anthony Doan 6-0, 6-2 and Jason Cariaga bested Justin Nguygen of South Plainfield.

The Tigers return to the court tomorrow afternoon (Friday) against Woodbridge at home at Spring Lake Park.

St. Joe’s will travel out to Colonia on Friday as well.
