SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – The South Plainfield Lady Tigers received six goals from five different players to go on and defeat Piscataway in their home opener 6-1. Angela Sanchez scored the first goal of the season for South Plainfield cashing in on a feed from Caity Hughes to put the Tigers up 1-0. The Tigers A-Line of Sanchez-Hughes and right winger Nicole Zultowski recorded a combined four goals on five assists. N. Zultowski had two goals for the Tigers while Sanchez, Hughes, Quinn Milane and Mary McNeil each recorded a goal.

“Today was a great way to open up what we’re hoping to be a very successful season,” said South Plainfield Head Coach Melissa Szeliga. “Our offensive movement looked good today, allowing five different people to score. I’m excited to see what opportunities this group opens up for themselves.”

The Tigers looked good firing 21 shots on goal, but the game was not as lopsided as the score showed. Piscataway played the powerhouse Tigers tough for most of the first half. Piscataway’s lone goal was midway through the second half and it was scored by Kayla Gray.
