SPJBC Announces Coach Darby Situational Baseball Camp

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – The South Plainfield Junior Baseball Club is having its fourth annual Coach Darby Situational Baseball Camp.  The South Plainfield High School Baseball Coaches believe after the teaching of hitting, fielding and pitching mechanics, the most important part of the game that young players need to address is situational play. This camp will specialize in teaching the players the importance of situational play.

This four (4) day camp will offer “live” play the entire week. The coach will work on situations from a “live” format. We have a coach pitch to a batter and everything that occurs from there is “live”. This gives the players the opportunity to learn where the ball should be thrown, where the cut-off men should be and who the correct cut-off men are. We also work on base running, double plays on every grounder, sacrifice bunts and the squeeze play!

The camp will be offered the weeks of June 23rd, June 30th, July 14th, 21st, 28th and August 4th.

The player will attend camp from 9am to 12 noon, Monday through Thursday. Each week we will work with a different age group, so check your dates!! The cost of the 4 Day camp is $85.00 per camper. You may attend another camp if the week is not good for you.

The Situational Camp is open to anyone who has played this year at the South Plainfield Junior Baseball Club. The players will be placed on selected fields by their Junior Baseball Club rating. If you are interested in getting your son to understand game situations, this camp is for him. Should you have any questions concerning this camp, please respond to Coach Darby at

Coach Darby will be the instructor for these weekly camps. If we have multiple fields being used, Varsity baseball players will be assisting.

How does a reviewer do justice to a book called “the great American novel”? I first read Johnny Got His Gun during the Viet Nam war, when young people, nationwide, were protesting fighting in a war that was a senseless waste of life; a war in which the United States had no business participating.
