SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Spotswood High School girls varsity tennis team started off their season on the first day of classes with a win against South Plainfield High School, 4-1.

Jenna Bousellam lost her first singles match in three sets to the Tigers' Jordan Lovett. Bousellam dropped the first set to Lovett, (6-2). She rallied back to grab the second set, (6-3), but lost the deciding set, (6-0). Katie Rivera won her second singles match against Katelyn Boros in straight sets, (6-4, 6-2). Isabella Santiago took her third singles match against Katelyn Borsos in straight sets as well, easily winning (6-1, 6-2).

Both Chargers' doubles teams won their inaugural 2016 matches in straight sets to seal the win for Spotswood. The first doubles team of Kaylie Writt and Alexandra Tennil won their match, (6-4, 6-2), while the second doubles team of Devin Ryan and Nikki Prascak took their match, (6-2, 6-1).
