SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - The Spotswood High School girls tennis team lost 4-1 to South Plainfield High School on Thursday at Spring Lake Park. The freshmen doubles team of Angelina Moschella and Melody Dzergoski earned the only match point for the Chargers. Gabriela Zeron lost her first singles match to Jordan Lovett, (6-1, 6-1),while Karen Mausser dropped her second singles match to Jada Worthem, (6-1, 6-0). Axelle Lemiere lost her third singles match to Shikha Patel, (6-1, 6-2), and Chloe Donelan and Lindsey Michaels lost in straight sets to Cameron Marks and Olivia Olano, (6-2, 6-0).

Moschella and Dzergoski lost the first set to Faith Cantamessa and Alexis Russo, (6-3). The pair battled back to take the second set, (6-4), which led to a third and deciding set. The two teams played to a 6-6 tie, forcing a tie-breaker. Moschella and Dzergoski won the third set tie-breaker, (10-7), to win their fifth match of the season. The freshmen team is 5-3 at second doubles this fall.

Spotswood's overall season record dropped to 3-4 with the loss. The Chargers travel to Thomas Edison Park on Monday for the Greater Middlesex Conference Tennis Tournament. Spotswood's next regular season match is on Friday, September 27 against Woodbridge High School at the Spotswood High School Tennis Courts on Summerhill Road.
