The South Plainfield Football team had one of the programs most historic wins last Friday.  The Tigers knocked off defending State Champions North Hunterdon.  South Plainfield was able to win a close 15-14 hard fought overtime victory.  This brought the Tigers record to 3-2 on the season.  South Plainfield was led by Junior Ashwin deGroot.  Ashwin has been an important part of this year’s Tiger Football Team.

This past game Ashwin ran 15 times for 71 yards.  He scored both extra points.  The first a two pointer to tie the game and he kicked the winning point in overtime to secure the Tigers victory.  Ashwin was not only an asset on offense.  On defense he had 13 tackles and on special teams he blocked two kicks.  South Plainfield will look to continue its winning ways against another defending State Champion Friday.   They will play Linden away.  This will help the Tigers build for the post season as they look to make a run at a State Title.
