The South Plainfield Boys’ Basketball team is continually improving throughout the season. The Tigers finished as runner-ups at the 9th Annual Anthony Cotoia Holiday Basketball Tournament. They then pushed one of the better teams in the GMC, Bishop Ahr, losing close, by a score of 66-74. Things came together for South Plainfield on Saturday, as they knocked off GMC White Division Opponent Edison 76-71 in overtime. The Tigers are led by senior leader Giovanni Dudley.
Giovanni Dudley has started for the Tigers for the past two years. Last week, he played well in both games scoring 11 points against Bishop Ahr and 19 points against Edison helping South Plainfield come back from a ten point deficit with 2:30 left in the 4th quarter. For the season, he is averaging 14.3 points on 48% shooting and adding 1.6 steals per game. His excellent defense and attitude as a team leader has helped South Plainfield turn things around as of late.
