This past week South Plainfield’s Co-ed Swim Team competed in their individual county championships. The program continues to improve while competing against larger schools. Sophomore Katie Ziga has been a vital part of the Tiger’s Swim Team.
Last week on Tuesday 1/21, Katie Ziga scored a total of 10 points against The Hun School of Princeton with a 1st place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 2:07.03 and a 2nd place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 57.14. She also was on two relay teams that both finished in 2nd that totaled 8 points. Katie also set a school record in the Girls 200 Yard Individual Medley with a time of 2:22.83. At GMC’s Katie finished 4th place for the 200 Yard Freestyle and 2nd place in the 100 Yard Freestyle, scoring a total of 40 points. She was also on 2 relay teams that scored 6 points in total. With Katie’s continued improvement and work ethic the Tigers are looking forward to the last two years of her career.
