The South Plainfield Girls’ Volleyball Team is always looking to compete against the best teams.  The Lady Tigers are continually improving as the season progresses while facing these tougher teams.  Last week the Girls’ Volleyball team shocked GMC Red Division opponent Perth Amboy.  The Panthers defeated the Lady Tigers twice in the preseason.  This was not the case at South Plainfield’s annual Senior Day/Breast Cancer Awareness match.  This was a huge improvement as they won in two exciting sets 28-26 and 25-22.  One of the leaders of this year’s team is senior captain Nancy Tran.

On the season, Nancy is on the verge of setting South Plainfield’s all-time assists record.  She currently has 131 assists.  A well rounded player, Nancy also has 70 digs, 22 aces, and 5 kills on the season.  This week she played well with 31 assists, 20 digs, and 3 aces.  During their huge win against Perth Amboy she had 11 assists, 10 digs, and an ace to help guide the Lady Tigers in straight sets.  Nancy will continue to guide the Lady Tigers while competing in the GMC Tournament, and on their quest to qualify for the NJSIAA State Tournament.
