The South Plainfield Boys’ Basketball Season is off and running.  The team finished as the runner up in the Anthony J. Cotoia Holiday Tournament.  On their way to the finals, the Tigers had an impressive win over JP Stevens.  They then went on to lose a tough fought game to powerhouse Scotch Plains.  Much of this success is due to the consistency of senior Peter Marotta.

Peter Marotta is a senior basketball player for the varsity team.  He has been part of the program for four years and earned a letter in his junior season.  Peter helped lead the Tigers to a win on Saturday against North Plainfield by scoring 13 points and hitting 4 three-point shots.  During the season Peter has hit 14 three-point shots in 5 games and is averaging 10 points per game including 15 in the first round of the Anthony Cotoia Tournament.  The Tigers will look to Peter and his leadership for a successful season.
