The South Plainfield Football team stunned the previously unbeaten and #10 ranked team in the State of New Jersey last Friday.  The Tigers won an exciting 17-16 game over West Essex.  South Plainfield will move on to the next round of the state playoffs this week.  The victory was led by junior Sam Nieves. 

Sam had an outstanding game for the Tigers.  At quarterback he was 4 for 4 and passed 38 yards.  However, Sam did his damage on the ground.  He rushed 6 times and accumulated 125 yards while scoring 2 touchdowns.  On the season Sam has passed for 422 yards, rushed for 486 yards, and has 6 touchdowns (4 rushing/2 passing).  Sam also contributed on defense, making 3 tackles, while having 18 tackles and an interception on the season. Sam and  the Tigers will look to continue their bid for a state title this Friday against Rahway.
