The South Plainfield Girls’ Volleyball Team is looking to improve from last year with a group of veterans and newcomers.  Last week Lady Tigers rattled off three wins over GMC Conference rivals.  The Tigers upset Edison 2-1 in three sets and then went on to defeat South River and New Brunswick by a score of 2-0.  The team this year is led by one of the seniors, Shailyn Martinez.

During the Tiger’s season, Shailyn has been a presence on the court. So far, Shailyn leads the team with eleven service aces on the season.  She also has sixteen kills, twenty-two digs and two assists.  During the three-win week, Shailyn had seven aces, six kills, and twelve digs.  She is an extremely hard worker and displays great leadership for the team.  With Shailyn Martinez’s steady play and guidance, the Lady Tigers look forward to continued improvement.
