SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – At the ‘Wheels for Bri’ 5 K race event on Saturday, The Scarlett Marketing Group was awarded the top team fundraising award.  Partners Jill Ryan of South Plainfield and Mindy Scarlett of Fanwood not only raised the most money, they were also instrumental in partnering with Park Community Church to make the first major ‘Wheels for Bri’ event a resounding success.

This event raised money for a handicap accessible vehicle for Brianna Feeney, a 6-year-old South Plainfield resident with an extremely rare genetic disorder known as Pallister Killian Syndrome, or PKS.  Only about 200 people in the world have been diagnosed with PKS.  Because of her disability, Brianna is blind, non-verbal and is confined to a wheelchair.

“We didn’t realize how this was going to snowball,” said Ryan.  “My partner and I just wanted to help Bri’s mom Patty get what she needed to be able to handle a profoundly disabled child.”

The Scarlett Marketing Group partners brought all their talents to bear on the ‘Wheels for Bri’ all day event, using social media to recruit participants, encourage attendance and support the fundraising efforts.

“It really feels good to do something because someone needs a helping hand and not worry about the profit margin,” said Scarlett.  “I feel privileged to have been part of this event.”

“While we may have been the team to bring in the most money, we were certainly not the only ones working on this event,” said Ryan.  “The Park Community Church, with Pastor Ken Lucas and his wife Jaylene and many members of the congregation worked really hard to pull this event together.”

The Scarlett Marketing Group will be involved in several other upcoming summer events in support of ‘Wheels for Bri.’
