SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - On November 30th, 99 students from the South Plainfield High School music department traveled to Walt Disney World in Florida to participate in three different performances in the parks.
On Thursday, December 1st at 6:45 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. the chorus performed in the Candlelight Processional. The Candlelight Processional is a special holiday event held nightly at the America Gardens Theatre in Epcot theme park as part of "Holidays Around The World." The event retells the stirring story of Christmas with a special celebrity narrator accompanied by a 50-piece orchestra and a mass choir. The guest narrator for the performance was Neil Patrick Harris who infused the narration with humor.
On December 2nd, the orchestra performed at Downtown Disney, in a solo venue for a gracious crowd.
The final performance of the trip took place on December 4th, the Tiger Marching Band did a performance through Epcot with a brief stop time performance in front of the main fountain, before ending in Future World.
The students represented South Plainfield with pride and their directors, Dr. Donna Kregler, Mr. Bruce Mikolon, and Mr. Ryan Dore were very proud. "This is the largest trip we have done in the music department in many years," said Dr. Donna Kregler. "We had well over 140 people from South Plainfield there and we look forward to doing it again in the future."
