SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – The South Plainfield Tigers girls gymnastics team vaulted past South Brunswick, on senior night, 106.475-98.325 to improve their record to 4-0 on the season.
The three South Plainfield seniors Nicole Sottiriou, Gianna Marcovecchio and Kayla Massaro powered the Tigers to victory. Sottiriou won the vault, bars and balance beam. Marcovecchio won the floor exercises and placed second on the bars and Massaro placed second on the vault.
The Tigers and South Brunswick both donned pink leotards in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness. The South Plainfield Tigers raised $350 for the Cancer Club. The donated funds went to a South Plainfield resident fighting cancer.
In addition to the three seniors, South Plainfield’s Kristi Mahr placed second on the floor, tying Morgan Rybinski from South Brunswick.
South Plainfield's next meet is home Friday against Old Bridge. The winner will clinch the division title.
