Twin City Pharmacy & Surgical: South Plainfield’s Modern Pharmacy with Old Fashioned Values

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – “Do you have Prince Albert in a can?”

“If you do you better let him out because the Queen is looking for him.”

That was a sample phone call back in the early 1970s on one of Twin City Pharmacy’s two phone lines. Today, with a total of 10 phone lines plus cell phones, modem lines and fax lines, Twin City has evolved to become a full-service pharmacy and HME (Home Medical Equipment) provider.

Being a leader in the movement to stop selling tobacco products in a pharmacy, Twin City stopped selling Prince Albert and other related tobacco products in 1986. An assortment of health-care related products and services over the years has replaced Hallmark Cards, Russell Stover Candies, gifts, newspapers and periodicals.  (According to the owners, the Cassio family, selling newspapers was in violation of child labor laws since their father and uncle insisted they wake up so early to piece together every Sunday.)

Twin City prides itself on the motto of “today’s modern pharmacy with old fashioned values.”  When walking in Twin City, customers immediately know where the motto originated.

Twin City offers all of the pharmaceutical care one would expect to find in a pharmacy combined with specialty pharmaceuticals such as compounding, gels, oral solutions, suspensions, pain management and consulting on many drug therapies.  Twin City’s pharmacists are available to assist in medication concerns, special requests, compounding for special needs, and they are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week for emergencies.  Twin City’s doors never really close.  That is part of the old-fashioned values that exude everything Twin City does.  Pharmaceutical special orders are welcomed, and deliveries are available as needed.

In addition to pharmaceuticals, Twin City added surgical to its name for a reason.  Twin City is a full-service Durable Medical Equipment (DME) supplier, and can deliver most equipment needs, including bariatric, the same day. Twin City carries a full line of items such as: fully electric hospital beds, Hi-Lo beds, bariatric beds, ramps, and many other medical modalities. Twin City also specializes in items to increase the quality of life like: wheelchairs, walkers, canes, rollators, commodes, bath chairs, lift chairs and motorized scooters. These items can be seen once you walk through Twin City’s doors. It is part of the full-service medical supply that a state of the art facility such as Twin City provides to its customers.

Twin City offers a variety of respiratory care products and services. Oxygen concentrators, available in 5 and 10 LPM, and portable oxygen tanks in varying sizes are available for continuous oxygen supply for home use and travel. Twin City also offers, nebulizers, nebulizer supplies and medication, as well as CPAP and BiPAP machines for purposes in the comfort of your home.  Twin City also offers a full line of colostomy products featuring Convatec and Hollister brands.

Twin City is a Regional Hospice Pharmacy that provides medications and equipment needed during the last stages of life. Twin City supports the physicians, nurses, and families with same day services and deliveries for hospice patients. Twin City has received awards for being Small Business of the Year, The Spirit of Hospice Award, and Pharmacist of The Year.

The “old-fashioned values” are found most often in Twin City’s service to their customers. Twin City is a family-owned business more than 40 years in the making. It all began in 1972, when Tom and Ralph Cassio purchased the business. Its current owners Bill Ashnault, RPh., Sandy Cassio and Tom Cassio are not only family owners, but they have fostered family relationships with their customers. When walking through Twin City’s doors you are greeted with familiar smiling faces. Twin City is built on services to its customers.

To Twin City Pharmacy & Surgical “modern pharmacy with old fashion values” is not a motto.  It is a way of life, which assists customers in helping to live theirs.
