WESTFIELD, NJ — In a letter emailed to families of Tamaques Elementary School parents Sunday, Principal David Duelks identified the 6-year-old who nearly drowned at Westfield Memorial Pool Saturday as a girl who had just finished first grade at the school.

“She is currently at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and under the care of a highly skilled medical team of physicians and nurses,” Duelks wrote.

Duelks wrote that he had spoken to her mother Sunday afternoon.
