SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - Sign Up Now for Window Decorating Contest!
In conjunction with the Christmas in July celebration on Saturday, July 28, the Cultural Arts Commission is sponsoring a window decorating contest. Bring your family or your friends and show off your artistic talent and paint one of the downtown storefront windows to vie for prizes. The mayor and council and the South Plainfield High School Marching Band will join Santa Claus to officially open the sixth annual Christmas in July celebration in the downtown area of South Plainfield.
Seventy vendors have signed up for the event that will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Rain date is July 29.)
The very popular racecar track returns this year, with free racing all day long. The remote-controlled cars are available for purchase with your name or company logo imprinted on it for $150. After the event concludes, the car body goes home with you.

Some of the participating vendors are: 9 Round Fitness, Lisa’s Hand- Crafted Gifts & More, Innovate Salon Academy, Wreaths & Trees, Start Right Nursery School, Paparazzi, Scentsy, Touchstone, Argan Caravan Beauty Products, Hadley Communications Technologies, Fabric Dog Collars, Leashes & Treats, toys, beading/jewelry, women’s apparel, LuLaRoe and Brennan & Sons sheets and pillows.
First Baptist Church will sponsor a photo booth. They will also be selling cotton candy and lemonade and grilling hamburgers.
Returning this year is the dunk tank. Several borough officials have already signed up to be dunked. If your organization would like to join in the fun, we welcome your participation. There will be plenty of games and activities for the children, such as Eddie the Balloon Guy, face painting, sparkling tattoos, a hula hoop contest and prizes.
Radio station Magic 98.3 will be on site from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The roads in the downtown area will be closed to traffic during the event. Handicapped parking will be available in designated spots.
An information booth will be set up at the entrance on South Plainfield Avenue and Front Street in the South Plainfield Business Association booth. You can pick up a map of the vendors and a schedule of events. The first 150 adults and 100 children will also receive a swag bag. Plenty of signs will be posted to help visitors locate food vendors and other attractions.
A tricky tray sponsored by the SPHS Marching Band will be located near Mr. Subs on Front Street.
SPHS Music Boosters will be selling fried Oreos as a fundraiser.
