Winter Weather Keeps on Marching -Updated

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – The National Weather Service has upgraded the approaching storm from a Winter Weather Advisory to a Winter Storm Warning.  The change in status is due to the possibility of a prolonged ice event this evening.  After one of the coldest Februaries in history, March appears to be offering much of the same winter weather.  The Winter Storm Warning is for 10:00am today through 4:00am Monday morning.

The Borough of South Plainfield issued a Nixle alert early Saturday evening warning of the upcoming storm.  The storm is forecast to drop 1-4 inches of snow, and a period of icing Sunday night into Monday morning.  The Nixle alert urged residents to remove parked vehicles from the roadways.

Despite being the first day of March, spring appears to be no-where in sight.  After consecutive weeks of temperatures struggling to hit the freezing mark, temperatures are expected to remain below average.
