My name is Ernie “Jim” Giannakis and I am seeking a fifth term to the South Plainfield Board of Education. I have been a South Plainfield resident and taxpayer for over 33 years and am married to my wife, Linda Giannakis, a lifetime resident of South Plainfield. Together we have 3 children, 2 have graduated through our high school and the third is currently attending in her Junior Year.  My daughter, Jaime, is employed with the District for her fourth year as High School Guidance Counselor.

During my terms on the Board, I had been named President for close to 5 years and have Chaired the committees of Finance, Buildings & Grounds, Policy and Personnel as well as remaining an active member on other committees.

Being an integral and active part of our much needed referendum projects is probably one of the things I am most proud to have been  part of along with implementation of our Full Day Kindergarten Program, providing Chrome Book Tablets to every high school student this year,  having our High School named in the “Top 100” in the State, implementation of new academic programs and overall improvement of test scores, are just a few of the achievements I personally take pride in while serving my time on the Board.

It has truly been an honor and pleasure to serve our district with honesty and integrity, while watching its continuous growth, and I would like to thank our community for trusting and believing in me. Although we are certainly moving in the right direction, more so than ever, there is still more we as a board need to accomplish. If elected, I promise to continue to give you my honest voice and word and will continue to be transparent and make myself available to all for any questions or concerns that may arise. I hope that as a community you can continue to trust in me and my service and know that when making decisions, I will continue to always have the best interest of the students, faculty, and taxpayers in mind.

Please consider supporting me and voting Column i (row 5) on November 5th

Thank you in advance,

Ernie “Jim” Giannakis
