To the Editor;
This past weekend saw the return of a summer tradition—the South Plainfield Summer Drama Workshop. These talented students, led by a team of experienced performing artists, presented the musical “Footloose.” And following tradition, the show was excellent!
The SPSDW, an independent organization with volunteers in leadership and production management positions, returned after a one year hiatus for their 48th year. The cast and crew included students from seventh grade through high school and was accompanied by an excellent pit orchestra.
The enthusiasm, enjoyment, and excitement were not just on stage, but also in the audience. The support of the community is part of the foundation that gives our town a strong performing arts presence. The SPSDW complements the programs the students take part in throughout the school year, and gives them a chance to work together for one production, giving them the opportunity to raise their skills to another level.
I hope you were able to catch this fine production. If you missed it, mark your calendars for next years’ show!
