There is no better job than being Mayor of my hometown of South Plainfield. Last Saturday, was one of those days. I sit back and say how thankful I am, to you the residents and the town I call home.
The morning started off with breakfast with the Mayor at the South Plainfield Senior Center. I am glad I had my coffee because everyone was wide awake. There were a number of items discussed such as taxes, speeding, traffic control devices and construction.
Breakfast with the Mayor is a great opportunity for me to sit for a few hours and just hear what everyone has to say. The event isn’t just for seniors. It is open to all South Plainfield residents. I encourage anyone interested in the future to come to breakfast and share your thoughts.
The second phase of the day was the holiday tree lighting and Christmas Caroling at Monument Park. This was a different group, but equally energized. The South Plainfield Public Celebrations Committee had hot chocolate, cookies and anything you may want for a nice warm caroling event. The best part was the number of South Plainfield residents that participated. There were over 100 residents, at this first time event. The caroling chorus of residents were so in-tune that they even made me and the Council sound good.
The day was action packed with residents discussing Borough business over coffee in the morning, and drinking hot chocolate and singing Christmas carols with family and friends at night. It doesn’t get any better, and for everyone that helped and participated I say thank you.
