The Holy Savior Academy Storm Varsity basketball team concluded a very successful season by capturing two championships over the weekend.  The Storm continued the basketball program’s winning ways when the team captured the school’s fourth consecutive Diocese of Metuchen CYM Varsity White Division Championship on its home court on Saturday evening.  The team then secured the first ever Diocese of Metuchen CYM Overall 8th Grade League Championship on Sunday afternoon at Saint Joseph High School in Metuchen.

This year’s varsity team started the year off with a 3rd place finish in Bishop AHR preseason tournament, won 1st place in the St Stan’s/OLV Christmas Tournament, placed second in St. Augustine of Kendall Park Tournament and finished with two CYM championships.  Overall, the Holy Savior Academy varsity finished the season with a 25-4 record.  Together since 3rd grade, this edition of Holy Savior Storm will graduate with an overall career record of 108 – 23 after having gone 0-10 in the team’s first season.  The graduating 8th graders Jadin Collins-Roberts, Tim Figueiredo, Nick Chadwell, and Jackson Gaffney will leave the school having won 3 CYM championships.  The team’s 6th and 7th graders led by Zoe Brooks, Derrick Melvin, Jett Phillips, Adrien Ortega, Matt Lowe, Daniel Cachola, Rainert Chioco and Brandon Fuentes will return looking to cap off the team’s 5th consecutive CYM championship together.  With only 4 of the 12 players on this year’s team graduating, Holy Savior Academy Storm is poised to continue its success for the next several years.
