Junior Bobby Rivera is a key part of the South Plainfield Boys’ Track Team’s success. The Winter and Spring Track Captain is an athlete who looks to constantly improve his team and times. At the beginning of this spring season, Bobby has worked to bring home accolades for his program from each of the three big weekend relays.
Last Saturday, at the Paul H. Beck Memorial Relays, Bobby showed his determination. Bobby started Saturday's success as he led off the 4x100 meter relay, passing the baton to Van Dalton, Jose Delgado and Ashwin deGroot. This set up the Tigers' best time of the season and prepared them for the upcoming GMC Relays. Next on the track for Bobby was the Sprint Medley Relay. Ashwin, running the 400, handed the baton to Bobby near the front of the pack and Bobby took the corner quickly passing some of the best relay teams in Northern New Jersey. Jose Delgado and Keith Lehman finished the race as the team brought home the bronze. Later in the day, Bobby found himself on the line as he started off the 4x400 Relay at a good pace. Keith, Ashwin and Sophomore Jackson Dalton battled the last 1200 meters as the team ended up on the podium once again. Good luck to the track program as they compete in the GMC Relays and Individual Championships.
