The South Plainfield Softball Team had an exciting week of action where the team saw Coach Panzarella break the all-time win total in NJ. The Lady Tigers got things rolling by defeating John F. Kennedy 3-2 on Monday. South Plainfield then traveled to Perth Amboy for a night double header and crushed the Panthers 14-0. On Wednesday they beat Colonia 5-1. The competition for the week ended with the Lady Tigers once again dominating Sayreville by a score of 11-1. A key part of the Lady Tigers’ success this week were the efforts and contributions of junior pitcher Jillian Holoboski.
Coming off her outstanding sophomore season, Jillian moved from third base to starting pitcher. Jillian went 3-0 on the week. On the season, she has a 14-4 record for the Lady Tigers while shutting out four opponents. She has an impressive 0.95 earned run average. Jillian has dominated on the mound, but is just as good at hitting. This past week, Jillian had six hits. She also hit two doubles, a triple and had five runs batted in (RBIs) while scoring four more herself. On the season, Jillian is batting .500. So far, she has three homeruns and twenty two RBIs. Jillian has scored twenty four times for her team. With her work ethic, the coaches and South Plainfield will be relying heavily on Jillian’s pitching and hitting heading into the Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament.
