The South Plainfield Baseball Team is off to another great start to the 2019 season. The Tigers are currently 3-1 on the year.  This past week saw South Plainfield post three wins against conference opponents.  The Tigers got things rolling by defeating North Brunswick 6-0 on Monday and then again 7-6 on Tuesday. On Thursday, the 3X defending Red Division Champions, East Brunswick, traveled to South Plainfield High School. Once again, South Plainfield dominated winning 5-1.  One major factor to the Tigers’ success this week and on the season is the contributions of senior Justin Jones.

Justin Jones made his varsity debut this week as a pitcher.   He had the task of shutting down East Brunswick.  Justin did not disappoint.  He pitched a complete game throwing 7 innings and only giving up one run.  Justin struck out seven and did not walk anyone in his first varsity win.  Justin and the Tigers hope to continue to play well as they get ready to try and defend their Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament and win another Group State Championship as the season progresses.
