The South Plainfield Boys’ Soccer Team is having another fantastic season. Last week the Boys’ Soccer team rattled off three wins, two over GMC Division rivals. The Tigers defeated Union Catholic 1-0 and then went on to defeat both Metuchen and John F. Kennedy by a combined score of 7-1. This has brought the Tigers record to 5-3 for the year. The team is led by senior captain Kevin Veliz.
During the past week, while South Plainfield won three times, Kevin’s defensive skills helped produce two shut outs. Although Kevin is a defender, he has also contributed offensively. Kevin scored his one goal in a 4-0 win over Carteret. South Plainfield has a busy week while they look to avenge a tough division loss to Spotswood and then take on state powerhouse Scotch Plains. With Kevin Veliz’s steady play and leadership the Tigers look for continued improvement.
