The South Plainfield High School baseball team had a great start to their 2018 season. This past Saturday, the Tigers won their home opener against division rival John F. Kennedy. South Plainfield defeated the Mustangs by a score of 2-1 to start the year off with a win.  A huge part of the success was the consistent pitching of junior pitcher, Roberto Gonzalez.

After a successful sophomore campaign, the Tigers will need to rely heavily on Roberto’s pitching. Roberto is one of South Plainfield’s top starting pitchers.  On the season he is now 1-0.  He pitched a complete game to help the Tigers prevail while only giving up one unearned run.  John F. Kennedy was only able get one hit off Roberto while being struck out fourteen times.  South Plainfield will continue to depend on Roberto Gonzalez while the Tigers compete in the rest of the season.
