The South Plainfield High School Girls’ track team is off to another great start in the 2018 season. Their record currently stands at 3-0. This past week, the Lady Tigers defeated divisional rivals Metuchen and Middlesex by the scores of 80-56 and 75-56. They then went on to dominate Bishop Ahr by a score of 112-24. Much of the Lady Tigers success has been due to the consistent contributions of Junior Captain, Samantha Pullen.
After a spectacular 2017 campaign in which Sam made it to the Meet of Champions in the long jump, she has high expectations. Samantha Pullen has started off the 2018 spring track season quite successfully. Sam's first week this season included 11 first place events and one second as she has earned the most points for her program on the track and in the field. In the three meets so far this season, Sam has scored 58 out of a possible 60 points. On Tuesday, Sam traveled with the team to Metuchen to compete against the host and Middlesex High School. Sam was first in the Long Jump, Triple Jump and 200 meter Dash. On Thursday, neighbor Bishop Ahr visited Jost Field for a friendly show down where Sam won all four of her favorite events including the 100 meter dash. Sam is looking to lead the Lady Tigers this track season and will look to better her season from a year ago.
Each week the South Plainfield High School Athlete Department will feature an athlete of the week.
