No film has entered our pop culture subconscious as deeply as this enduring classic. Celebrate its 80th anniversary with Raconteur Radio’s staged radio play presentation!  The Wizard of Oz: A Staged Radio play stars Shawna Lagan as fearless farm girl Dorothy Gale.  This play also stars Jane Hardy, Michael Jarmus, and Alex Dawson.  For over a century, Frank L. Baum’s timeless tale of magical land beyond the rain has given faithful service to the young and young at heart.  Time has been powerless to put its kindly philosophy out of fashion. To those of you who have been faithful to in in return, we dedicate this performance.  This play features theatrical lighting, vintage commercials, fog effects and of course extensive sound effects.  The runtime is 55 minutes. This is a performance for the whole family and is a tribute to the 1936 film starring Judy Garland

The Radio play features real actors in front of a live audience.  The actors wear costumes, the stage features theatrical lighting, golden age radio equipment, fog fx, audience participation and of course hundreds of sound effects!  A radio play or audio narrative, what some call an "ear movie," is a story told through dialogue, sound effects, and music. They add costumes, colored spots, a fatboy Elvis mic, a fog machine and a strobe light, then perform it for live audiences at a range of traditional and improvised venues throughout the Tri-State area.  RACONTEUR RADIO: stages theatrical presentations of vintage radio plays, classic works of literature, and pop culture parodies for live audiences throughout the Tri-State area.
