SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - On Saturday February 4th Antojos Ticos Costa Rican Cuisine officially opened for business. Antojos Ticos located at 23 South Plainfield Ave, held their Grand Opening Celebration, with food, family, friends and the traditional ribbon cutting ceremony from Mayor Matthew P. Anesh. In addition to Anesh, Council President Derryck White and council members Robert Bengivenga, Christine Faustini, Jon Dean,Joseph C. Wolak and Administrator of the town, Glenn Cullen were all on hand with both a golden scissors and a golden appetite.
Antojos Ticos Costa Rican Cuisine is the brain child of Fabian Chacon and Jessica Ramadanis. For Chacon, Antojos Ticos marks the opening of his eighth restaurant but he says this one in particular is special because it is his first South Plainfield location and his first exclusively Costa Rican establishment.
Chacon is excited by the challenge of introducing the town to this unique Latin cuisine. He also takes pride in his staff’s ability to provide a signature homemade feel for his menu items, saying “when you’re sitting here, we want you to feel like you’re back in Costa Rica.”
Many on Chacon’s team have several years of experience in Costa Rican restaurants and together they spent months prior to the opening perfecting the menu to achieve what he calls “100%” authenticity.
The grand opening featured a table holding samples with a few items from the main courses including Arroz con Pollo & Gallo Pinto, and Arroz con Leche from desserts.
Antojos Ticos is the newest addition to South Plainfield’s busy downtown. In addition to Antojos Ticos, Cosmo 21 Beauty Salon & Spa located at 24 South Plainfield Avenue opened just across the street.
