Edison Utility Work Leads to Traffic Congestion

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – An accident on Oak Tree Road in Edison along the South Plainfield border has led to traffic congestion and rush hour chaos. Oak Tree Road is closed from the light at Park Avenue up and over the Oak Tree Avenue Bridge in Edison. Oak Tree Road is blocked at Park Avenue. Oak Park Commons Mall is only accessible from Park Ave and the medical offices across the street likewise are accessible from the side entrance.

South Plainfield sent out Nixle Alerts notifying residents and motorists of the road closure. PSE&G crews were on scene removing and installing poles and electrical lines. The lines were brought down by a truck early this morning.

The road closure is expected to last through the evening, but the utility work is expected to be complete before the morning rush.

TAPinto South Plainfield will provide more details as information becomes available.
