South Plainfield– After consultation with Chief Parker, Administrator Cullen and members of the Borough Council I have decided to modify the Borough’s operations in an effort to better protect the public and municipal workers. Beginning 3/14/2020 the PAL facility and Library will be closed.


Effective 3/16/2020 Borough Hall, Fire Prevention and DPW will be open on a per appointment basis. The administration staff consisting of the Clerk, Finance, Borough Administrator, Tax Collection, Tax Assessor, Zoning, Code Enforcement, Building, Court, Police Records and Clerk will all continue to work inside the building. Residents will be encouraged to use online tools and call the respective departments. If assistance is required appointments need to be made over the phone with each department. A department phone listing is attached to this release and can be located on the Borough Website at

The Senior Center will continue to remain closed to the public, but meals-on-wheels and limited transportation services will continue.

The Recycling facility and compost will remain open to the public. The DPW building will remain open with limited public access.
