NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - The happy part of Happy New Year came less than three hours after the ball dropped for families who each welcomed new babies born just minutes apart at New Brunswick's two hospitals.
Adina and Binyamin Bril became parents for the first time when their daughter was born at 2:21 a.m. today at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. The mother was admitted to hospital in labor at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 30. The couple and their doctors ultimately decided to deliver the baby by cesarean section.
“I’m very happy to be on the other side of 30 hours of labor," she said. "The doctors and nurses were amazing through the whole delivery. They made the entire experience much easier."
The excited couple is still deciding on a name for their 9-pound, 7-ounce daughter.
Eight minutes after that birth, and several blocks away, Yovanny Jimenez-Corcino gave birth to her son, Joshua R. Suarez-Jimenez, at Saint Peter's University Hospital at 2:29 a.m.
The North Brunswick mother went into labor at 8 a.m. on Dec. 31.
Joshua weighed in at 8 pounds, 3 ounces, and was measured at 21.5 inches long.
