SOUTH PLAINFIELD - Holy Savior Academy students will perform “Peter Pan” Thursday, May 2nd and Friday, May 3rd at 7p.m. The play will take place in the Holy Savior Academy Auditorium and tickets are $5 each.
“I am very excited about ‘Peter Pan,'” said Eva Tripodi, Enrichment Teacher and Technical Director of the play. “The children have worked so hard.”
Months of preparation have led up to the Drama Club’s Spring Performance, featuring the third through eighth grade students of Holy Savior Academy.
“The students have put in countless hours after school and during their recess time to perfect their lines, songs and dances,” said Tripodi. “They range from first time performers to ‘seasoned veterans.’ I am so very proud of them!”
"The students auditioned at the end of January and they've been practicing three or four days a week for the last couple of months," said Music Director Susan Loughlin. "This is a show that many of the kids are familiar with and they enjoy the music, so it was a natural fit for them. It also gave us a chance to feature students as young as third grade in leading parts."
At the conclusion of Friday’s final performance, seven Drama Club members will be inducted into the International Thespian Society. The inductees of the honor society include: Matthew Robertson, (Grade 6), Katherine Beauzile (Grade 6), Maxwell Corry (Grade 6), Dominick Nuzzo, (Grade 6), Kiara Pilamunga, (Grade 7), Rachel DeMesa, (Grade 7), and Gianna Calora (Grade 7).
"The dedication of the students is amazing," said Loughlin. "They just love the Performing Arts in this school and the fact that the students are able to do something that incorporates all of the arts - the music, dance, drama, even the art work since the scenery is student initiated, is just incredible."
