December's Edison Rotary Students of the Month for South Plainfield High School - Nicole Freire and Joseph Walker.

Nicole Freire Bio – South Plainfield High School

Nicole Freire is an ambitious and hardworking student with many achievements and aspirations.  She has demonstrated leadership and integrity as President of the Spanish Honors Society and a member of the Girls Tennis Team.  With this in mind, Nicole has been able to give back to her community by volunteering as a tutor at the South Plainfield Public Library.  Furthermore, Nicole has recently been accepted to Berkeley College and Rider University and will pursue a career in international business.  She has applied to honor programs and will strive to work hard as she continues her studies.

Joseph Walker – South Plainfield High School

Joseph has focused his four years of high school becoming a well-rounded student. He is a captain of the South Plainfield football team, where he played wide-receiver and free safety, as well as a member of the National Honors Society, Student leadership, Heroes and Cool kids, Tiger Random Acts of Kindness, and he volunteers as an usher at his local church on Sunday mornings. Joseph is a hands-on student-athlete employed with various jobs over the summer and during the off season of sports. He was groundsman for a statewide tree removal company, and a successful site coordinator running heavy machinery in the event of a snowstorm. Joseph plans to continue his academic career pursuing his Bachelor’s degree and looks forward to being an active member in the United States Military.
