EDISON, NJ - A Princeton man has been admitted to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital’s intensive care unit after he was run over by a  tractor trailer that he attempted to crawl under according to Edison Police.

30-year-old Neal Patel and a male friend were leaving Wick Plaza on their way to the Global Inn, across Route 1, when police said Mr. Patel apparently tried to scoot under a stopped tractor trailer that just fueled up. Mr. Patel ended up getting run over by the four tires on its twin rear axle when the driver suddenly moved the big rig, police said.

The incident occurred at a Raceway service station on Route 1 South near Wooding Avenue at 9:25 p.m. on Tuesday, police Lt. Robert Dudash said. The driver, from Farmington Hills, MI., suddenly started up his tractor trailer to pull onto Route 1 and was unaware that he had dragged Patel about 10-feet and ran him over with his rear tires, Lt. Dudash explained.
