BRIDGETON, NJ – Anthony Cole of South Plainfield has been charged with the homicide of his cellmate Keyon Wade of North Brunswick New Jersey. According to the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office and New Jersey Department of Correction’s-Special Investigation Division Wade was found unresponsive in his cell back on December 4, 2019.

Cole and Wade were inmates at the South Woods State Prison. The investigation revealed Wade suffered head trauma which medical personnel attempted to treat, but Wade succumbed to the injuries. The State has charged Cole, 34, with homicide.

Cole had previously been convicted of the slashing of a South Plainfield Department of Public Work’s employee on September 7, 2009. The slashing occurred as the fireworks celebration was ending on Labor Day in 2009. Cole was sentenced to 27 years in prison for the senseless and random act.
