This week Mayor Matthew P. Anesh urged voters to elect Melanie Mott and Pete Smith to the borough council.
“Melanie and Pete have the work ethic and drive that will bring value to our team,” said Anesh. “They are independent thinkers that will provide innovative ideas to keep South Plainfield heading in the right direction.”
Melanie Mott, a resident since 2005, is seeking her first term in November. Melanie and her husband Chris have three children, Taylor, Kylie, and Sean. She is dedicated to ensuring that South Plainfield’s brightest days are ahead.
“As the mother of three children, I understand how families need to make tough financial decisions every day to get by and plan for the future,” added Mott, “I am proud to be running to be part of a team in local government that lives by the same fundamental financial practices that our residents do and I will be dedicated in making the most of every dollar that our taxpayers invest in our borough.”
In addition to her service as a school volunteer, Mott has volunteered for various non-profit organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Moms Helping Moms Foundation, We are Team Jersey, and is a full-time Realtor.
Pete Smith and his wife Sandi have six children, Matt, Ryan, Derek, Tiffany, Marissa, and Caitlyn. He is always looking to give back to his community and to make sure that South Plainfield always comes first.
“South Plainfield is a hidden gem in New Jersey and I want to make sure our best days are always ahead of us,” added Smith.
Smith served 9 years in the Army National Guard, served on the Planning Board since 2006, is a member of the South Plainfield Elks Lodge, served as President of the New Jersey State Elks Association and was the president of the Sacred Heart Athletic Association. He devotes himself to helping raise money for children by doing polar plunges and running marathons.
“We want to thank the Mayor for his continued support. We will continue to work together to make South Plainfield a better place for families and children,” said Melanie Mott and Pete Smith.
“Without the help of people like Melanie and Pete, we wouldn’t be able to do many of the things that are helping us go in the right direction,” said Mayor Anesh. “I am asking that you join me in supporting Melanie Mott and Pete Smith on Tuesday November 5th. Thank you for considering them, and I hope they can count on your support.”
