SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - The South Plainfield 8U travel softball team wrapped up their summer season winning the D2 Parkway League Championship. 

The team entered the playoffs as the highest seed after winning their division.  After an impressive 17-2 win over North Edison in the quarterfinals the Tigers were matched up against Scotch Plains in the semifinals.  After an early defensive battle, the girls pulled ahead late in the game and won 7-1 to advance to the finals.

In the finals, South Plainfield met the defending champions in the Cranford Cougars.  With great defense and timely hitting the South Plainfield team completed their run with an impressive 9-7 victory, capping off a successful season as league champions.

Members of the team were:  Julia Adenau, Cecelia Cassio, Leah Davis, Emiley DiRenzo, Paige Fonti, Annie Flannery, Ava Fusaro, Lucia Matias, Samantha Riccardo, Sophia Salvatore, Taylor Tankiewicz, and Sophia Valle.
