Capelli Sports Complex, Tinton Falls, NJ --  Franco Mitrano's Roma Soccer Club had a date set with the Nationally Ranked Jackson Lions for the State Cup Finals, the first time in three years that they were going to the finals as underdogs against a team that was younger and featured a few former Serbian and an Ecuadorian National players that scored 12 goals in their last two games.  

 The stage was set:  a relentless defensive and experienced team in Roma vs a young offensive powerhouse, the GSSL newcomers Jackson Lions.

 In 90 minutes plus 7 injury time which saw 5 Goals, nasty tackles with punches being thrown by the Lions, and five yellow cards handed out by the referee, the Romans withstood all that like warriors and on the final whistle in the 97th minute the bench rushed the field to celebrate the State Cup and the Championship,

 This is Coach Mitrano's Third State Cup Championship With the Men's 38 & Over Team, earlier this month the team also won the League and recorded the best record of 13-2 in the Garden State League.
