South Plainfield was largely led by the efforts of its lower and higher weight grapplers. With the dual starting at 160 pounds, the Canucks initially took an early 9-0 lead by edging out decision wins in the first three bouts.

Thomas Renna got the ball rolling for South Plainfield by taking a second period pin over Duglas Ayalala at 195. Austin Scott followed that up with a 15-2 major over Troy Henderson that gave South Plainfield a 10-9 lead, and from there, the Tigers never looked back.

Julian Medina (285), Jeffery Jacome (160), Julian Irizarry (113) and Jacob Delvecchio (120) all earned consecutive pins for the Tigers. Xavier Santos closed the dual with a late pin over 152.

Anthony White kept his impressive undefeated season going with a 17-0 tech gall over Brandon Rosa at 132 pounds. Andrew Loniewski took an 8-3 decision win over Jacob Agui.

The Tigers will continue the tournament on Wednesday, by hosting fifth-seeded Raritan in the semifinal round.
